Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 500 Preview

    Saturday, November 14, 2009

At the very first look, you may mistake the Royal Enfield Bullet Classic as a 1951 model. But it's not that model at all. It is a blend of post world war II motorcycle and gen next bike. Several things remained the same as a vintage motorcycle such as 'Roar of engine', deep and wide design of front and rear fender, covered headlamp, seating, fuel tank, silencer, spoke wheels, tail lamp and air filer box. So let's welcome the Classic cum Stylish motorcycles in India. Graphics are pasted on fuel tank and air filter box. Air filter box houses the name of the machine- Classic 500. The company abbreviation form 'RE' is carved at the engine for the first time in Royal Enfield bikes. And the name of the engine is also inscribed at there-Twinspark EFI 500. Royal Enfield monogram is also there on the middle of the tank.

The classic round headlmap of the motorcycle is covered by a steel cap on it. This is also borrowed from the post world war II motorcycle. Even it is a traditional headlamp but used a powerful halogen bulb that gives a clear vision of the road ahead. Tail lamp also reflects the old era. Brake light is positioned between the rear side turn indicators. The new Classic comes with a traditional analogue cluster. The dashboard of Royal Enfield Bullet Classic comprises of mainly two dials- Speedometer and fuel gauge. Malfunction Indicator lamp is fitted at the right side of the headlamp casing. At the left side of the console, ignition is fitted.

The traditional thigh pads are provided at the both side of the fuel tank with traditional company name. The number plate of the bike also resembles the post second world war motorcycles. Like the twinspark EFI 500cc engine, the springs of the rider's seat is visible. Rear mudguard of the tyre is deep drawn again as post war era. Silencer and legguard also looks classic.

One question is there any way to add a buddy seat to this bike. Though I like the solo look I have a feeling I think I will have to add another seat to it Damn. And how does it sound compared to an electra. Thats the only other bullet I have riden. Call me a pussy but Man bullet 350 is the most fun to ride out of that and electra. but I could never manage to kick start my friends bull.

Ya wangyal, the silencer comes straight on purchase. You can however get the curved silencer, and fit it on ur bike once its registered. The straight silencer is because its got to be acceptable under Bharath III norms. :)

    7. I was a proud owner of an original Royal Enfield and it is still going strong with a cousin. The Delhi police fined me for clocking 110 kmph on the old Palam roadi n 1967. The only painful thing was changing the rear wheel after a cture, I hope they have improved on this score. A 500 cc bike should be able to do much more than 124k mph
